This comfortable former fisherman’s house is located in the old part of Portocolom, one of the harbour villages in Majorca where the traditional character is preserved and which is one of the most photographed places on the island. Portocolom still retains the old shacks where the fishermen used to moor their boats and store their fishing equipment, known as “barraques” or “escars”. It has a good choice of restaurants of a variety of styles, though it is renowned mostly for its seafood cuisine, with restaurants such as Sa Sinia, Ses Portadores, Sa Llotja and Club Nàutic.
You can also enjoy the beaches of S’Arenal, where there is a well known refreshment stand popular with tourists and residents alike. S’Algar is a rocky cove with a little beach of crystalline water, located only 1 kilometre from the house.
Portocolom is ideal for sports lovers and has a wide range of facilities if you want to have an active holiday. Popular events include the Portocolom International Triathlon. Jogging, cycling, windsurfing, diving, swimming or walking are some of the activities you can enjoy in this beautiful natural harbour. There is also something for golf afficionados, the Vall d’Or Golf Course being only 4 km away.
There are many interesting places to visit near Portocolom, including Sant Salvador Monastery, Santueri Castle, the caves of Porto Cristo and the markets at Felanitx and Santanyi.
The house is a one-storey building in old Portocolom accommodating 4 people. It was refurbished in 2015 and now has all the comforts of a modern dwelling, including air conditioning, satellite TV and free WiFi connection.
Entering the house we find a small living room with a comfortable sofa facing the TV. Crossing the living area we find a substantial kitchen next to the dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher, electric oven, ceramic hob, toaster, coffee machine and kitchenware/utensils. The dining room has a table which seats 4 people. Next to the living room there is a bedroom with double bed and built in wardrobes. From the dining room we access the main bathroom which has a shower.
The house has a pretty interior patio, where you can enjoy meals al fresco with a sunshade for protection from the summer sun.
From the patio we can access a toilet with shower and also the other double room which also has access to the main bathroom. This room has twin beds and has views of the internal patio. From the patio we can also access the garage where there is a chimenea which can also be used as a barbecue. The stairs here lead to an upper terrace with views.
